I gave in to my need for the fix, and strung ethernet cables all over the floor, instead of routing them properly under the floor (for now.) I was planning on crawling under the house again today, but I didn't feel like it with the cold I've got and the six hours of sleep I had. (Why my body decided I wanted to wake up at 8:30, I don't know.)

Gratuitous creepy link of the day: a 1939 study that sought to induce stuttering in non-stuttering children. (st00pid NYT registration required.)

I couldn't read that NY Times article ... it wanted me to cough up some $$ to do it. But I'm guessing that this is the one I read about in the SJ Mercury a while back where the experiment was successful in proving that stuttering could be induced by making the children self-conscious of it? It's really sad the way the study ruined the lives of some of the children.

This and the Tuskeegee Syphilis Study are among the most disturbing examples of this kind of "research" that I've read about.
