Current Mood: lonely/mopey
Current Music: The Who, Eminence Front

I'll first note that Amon Tobin is going to be at Bimbo's on Tue 29 Oct, along with DJ Food, Bonobo, and DJ P-Love. Sadly, it's a 21+ show.

I just finished reading Gun, With Occasional Music by Jonathan Lethem. Quite a good book, especially if you're a Chandler fan. Truth be told, I'd rather be out and about than reading - but between being really tired from going to the 10am company staff meeting where we were told "we're gonna reduce the company by 25%, but the engineers only by 5-10%, and this will happen sometime in the next three weeks" (thus implying around a 50% cut in my dept, IT), my friends having other plans, and not really having much anyplace I'd want to go... looks like a quiet evening at home for me.

I really wish I could figure out where the hell the convenient entrance to the bayside bike paths were; when I went up on Shoreline, I ended up running into the golf course, which doesn't seem like the right place. Sigh.

I'd rather be out and about myself, but some people don't realize that it takes money to muck around town. I've started to take back some of my old college habits of going to the coffee shop to talk, blockbuster nights, and the free live music at borders bookstores on the weekends. Sometimes that can be more fun than a night out on the town, especially after the horrific night out I had when I paid for everything. Oye vey.

There's usually something nominally interesting going on in Oakland or SF, but driving an hour up, plus spending cash on whatever once I'm there, and then having to drive back? Yeech.

As far as college habits - just because things are cheap doesn't mean they're not good. :) I've never really given those things up.

Baylands entrance...It's up San Antonio, I believe. Just go right off of the freeway and all the way up.

I'm glad to hear Gun was good. The only Lethem I've read was The Wall of the Eye, The Wall of the Sky. I really wasn't impressed by it, despite what I'd heard about Lethem being good.
