APM in general has been far more reliable for me than ACPI, sadly enough. ACPI is an Intel spec, though, so I guess that explains most things.

The big problem with suspending to disk is restoring all the drivers to their previous state, which means reinitializing everything; that's where things are hung-up on NetBSD right now.
