moof turns 978220800! @ 07:51 pm

Current Mood: hot hot
Current Music: Star Wars theme (disco version)

Next Thursday, the 4th, I turn 978220800 seconds - or in those feeble Dirt units, 31 years old. So (unless there's a good reason not to) I'm gonna suggest that people show up to the Tied House in Mountain View. It's tasty, there's beer, it's relatively cheap, and it's five blocks from my house.

I was thinking relatively earlyish, 7:30 or 8, it being a school night and all. If you wanna show up or have suggestions for alternate venues or times, then (as the French would say), "please reply."

Hrm. I'd love it if you decided to start around 6pm, since I have to work at 7pm, and it'd give me a chance to stop by...

Spare ribs are usually pork and come from the front of the belly. Rib tips also come from there. Prime rib, on the other hand, is somewhat of a misnomer - it can be damn near any piece of beef, but IIRC it's usually from near the ribcage area. London broils are the same kind of meat.

Mountain View is nice enough for the South Bay; where I live is near Castro Street which is a nice little downtown area. The big downside is that generally speaking, the South Bay is Dull. Most of the more interesting things going on occur up in the East Bay or SF. Why do I live down here? I'd go insane from commuting if I lived in Oakland and had to drive down here every day. People seem to move down here for one of two reasons: jobs, or the schools (for their kids.)

Ill probably move to Sunnyvale sounds best play to start a career in PC's. Oakland seems just dull and boring but there is always the rent to think about.

Oakland is only dull and boring on the surface. There's plenty of things to do there. I do prefer the city or Berkeley if you're going to be up that way, though.

As far as the rest goes, Sunnyvale is a pit of hideous hell spawn, second only to Sunnydale. Of course you may be the sort of person that likes soulless suburban sprawl.

Well oakley seems very seperated from rest of SF, even if its really nearby. I think all the industry makes it seem dull but i can always try it out.

YMMV - a lot depends on what you like doing, and spending your time doing. You might try living near your [job|school|major time preoccupation] initially, while you settle in.

For myself, I'm living in Palo Alto these days, as a compromise with my partner between being further south, and being up in the city. It works out pretty well, since there's plenty of greenspace, and it's easily possible to walk to a variety of amenities.
