I got mail from my brother (a lawyer for a US firm in Hong Kong) yesterday:

[E]veryone's taking a royal ass-buggering right now. A couple economic things are somewhat scary, like the much-talked-about property bubble and the fact that the Fed wouldn't really be able to lower interest rates anymore. The budget deficit doesn't make it easier to pump up fiscal policy, either. Add to that the fact that the S&P 500 is still historically overvalued in terms of at least p/e, and maybe you can make a case for worse to come. I say, start buying guns and canned goods now. That's the legal advice I'm going to start giving my clients.

I've been thinking a lot about going back to school again, as geecat's entering SJSU in a week or three. The notion of getting a degree in Psych and staying the hell away from the tech disciplines which I'm good at but don't really like all that much is kind of appealing. Getting the transcripts from the six different schools I've been to would be a major undertaking, though. It's been quite a while since I've done anything new and different for a sustained amount of time....
